Lake County Update

Lake County Campus Closure - Frequently Asked Questions

We love our Lake County family and are so thankful for how God has moved through this campus. As this season comes to a close, our mission remains the same—to reach, serve and develop.
Why is the Lake County Campus closing?
After much prayer, reflection, and seeking wisdom, Pastor Dustin, the Elders, and Journey’s Lead Team have made the difficult decision to close Journey’s Lake County Campus. This decision was not made lightly. For years, we have prayed and sought guidance, but despite our efforts, the campus has struggled to become financially self-sustaining. Typically, a church campus reaches this goal within 3-5 years, yet after 11 years, Lake County remains far from that reality. This has been an incredibly difficult choice because of our deep love for the people of Lake County.

When is the final service?
The final service for our Lake County Campus will be on May 4, 2025. This will be a special time of celebration as we come together to reflect on God’s faithfulness and give thanks for all He has done in and through the Lake County Campus over the past 11 years.

What’s the best next step for Lake County attenders?
The spiritual health and well-being of our Lake County Campus family remain our top priority. As one church with two campuses, we want to continue this journey together. After May 4, we invite our Lake County congregation to join us at our Apopka Campus, where they can choose from four identical service times: Thursdays at 7:00 PM and Sundays at 8:30, 10:00, and 11:30 AM.

What about Kids and Student Ministry?
We would love to welcome your children and students at our Apopka Campus! Our Journey Kids environments (birth through 5th grade) are available during all service times, and Journey Students meet on Wednesday nights at 7:00 PM for High School and Thursday Nights at 6:45pm for Middle School. Your family will feel right at home, and our team is ready to help you make a smooth transition.
Can I still serve if I'm a Lake County volunteer?
Absolutely. We’d love for you to continue serving at the Apopka Campus. You’re already part of the team, and we want you to bring your gifts with you. Learn more or sign up at http://journeychristian.com/dreamteam .
Do I need to change my membership, giving or personal information if I plan to attend the Apopka Campus?
No. Journey is one church with one vision, and like a family, your relationship and information won’t change based on where you worship. Your membership, giving, and involvement will all carry over seamlessly as you continue being part of what God is doing through Journey.
Can I stay connected online?
Yes!  We prefer that you join us in person, however, our Online Campus continues to be a great way to engage with worship and messages each week. Visit http://journeychristian.com to watch and stay connected.
What will happen to the building?
We are exploring the sale of the building and its assets to help reduce and eliminate existing debt, allowing us to strengthen the overall financial health of the church.
Will there be a way to stay connected with other Lake County families?
Yes! One of the great blessings of Journey is our Life Groups and Support Groups. Many of these already meet in Lake County, and there’s no reason they can’t continue, in fact, we strongly encourage it. You can explore available groups at journeychristian.com/groups.
What if I need help making the transition or have additional questions?
We are here for you and would love to help you take your next step—whether that’s finding a group, serving, or simply getting connected. Reach out anytime at lakecounty@journeychristian.com, and someone from our team will personally follow up.
