14 months - 5 year olds (Pre-kindergarten)
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Journey’s Backyard is thematically designed to encourage learning as soon as our children start their journey down the “countryside” hallway of the nursery/preschool wing. Each classroom is decorated to depict a fun place in God’s creation that children would love to visit.
• Our classrooms open 15 minutes prior to our worship service or scheduled event. An age appropriate lesson is taught in each classroom. The Palma Smiley Cradle Roll lesson is used to captivate the attention of our 14 month – 24 month olds. While our 3 – 5 year olds are intrigued with Group’s Hands On curriculum. We have 3 core beliefs we feel are important for them to learn before moving on to the elementary classes:
-God Made Me.
-God Loves Me.
-Jesus is my friend.
Wednesday night programming is offered in the spring and fall for our 3–5 year olds from 7:00 – 8:00 P.M.
• Security policies and procedures are strictly enforced. All parents must sign in their child at the welcome desk outside the classroom. A security number will be assigned along with the coordinating parent pickup tag. The child’s number will be displayed in the lower corner of the screen during worship, should we need a parent to return to their child’s classroom. A child will only be released to a parent with the coordinating pickup tag. Proper I.D. will be required if a tag is lost.
• Our classrooms are staffed with dedicated volunteers. All volunteers must complete a thorough screening which includes a personal history form, 3 references, and a background check.
• Please do not bring a sick child to our classrooms. We cannot accept any child who displays signs of illness such as fever, contagious rashes and diseases, diarrhea, green or yellow nasal discharge, etc. Your child will be more comfortable and recover much faster if you keep them at home with you.
